THE HISTORY OF SPIRITUAL HEALING.
Spiritual Healing is the fore runner of modern day holistic health care, its origins date back far into history. Its beginning can be traced as far back as Palaeolithic man, where the old women were revered as the wise ones. They had connections to the ancestors who were contacted for advice and to healing energies which were used to heal the sick and injured tribe members. These later also encompassed Herb law and knowledge of the properties of Crystals.
Cave paintings found in France dating from 15,000 years ago are shown depicting pictures of hands with coloured lights coming from them, these the experts think; show healing occurring and an awareness of the bodies natural energy.
Many Ancient texts, including the Bible, are full of accounts telling of healing being carried out. These vary in their nature but lead to many sick and even the dead people returning to full health. Jesus the best known of all healers carried out many miracles throughout his life but was his skill the same as many spiritual healers today and he just had a good press secretary.
Jesus learnt his skills from the Priests of Aesculapuis in Egypt and the Jewish Sect the Essence. These people taught him how to use his gifts of prophesy and healing, making him a seer and healer at his local temple.
Up until his reputed death on the cross he continued to heal, his shroud containing his blood is said to have carried out many miraculous acts in its own right. His disciples also continued to heal in his name long after his disappearance from the tomb.
In later history there are many accounts of the Kings and Queens of Europe giving healing to many people including commoners. European history show this dating back to 491 Ce and right up to 1712 Ce.
In England from the time of Edward the Confessor to that of Queen Anne, this form of healing was called the kings touch. It was thought to be passed down the royal blood lines and was a hereditary birthright.
Henry VII was known to have introduced a silver coin which was given to people who were sick, these touch pieces were carried by the recipient so they could receive healing when not in the kings presence. This is thought to be the earliest recorded from of absent healing.
Many Religious organisations throughout history have carried out holy wars against ordinary, simple folk who had the ability to heal the sick animals and people. They used their gifts and knowledge to aid anyone, who requested it, only to be in many cases persecuted by the same people. It is even more regrettable when you realise that it was often done in the name of the same person who was the figure head of the church and the greatest of all healers, Jesus Christ.
The church persecuted the wise people, the Shamans, the Druids, the Witches, the Natural Healers and the Herbalists whilst at the same time their own priests and monks practiced the same skills without fear of condemnation and destroying generations of knowledge in the process. This is the same church where you can receive hands on and absent healing which condemns its use in spiritualist churches.
So with all the evidence, it is hard to deny that spiritual healing has been around since the dawn of man in one form or another. Nowadays it is recognised by many Scientific Organisations and is no longer regarded as mystical and something to be feared.
