THE OUIJA, WITCH OR SPIRIT BOARD FOR OR AGAINST? YOU DECIDE
The very mention of the Ouija Board conjures up images of people sat around a table in a candle lit room. An old woman sits in a trance like state her hands on the planchette asking is anybody there. Suddenly it pointer moves spelling out words in quick succession, with fearful expressions the sitters look at each other. Bet we all have seen an old black and white movie just like this. We all seem to think this is a tool used in Victorian séances to contact the souls of the dead, love ones past into the world of spirit. It is used time and again to conjure up Hollywood’s movie nightmares but what is the truth to these fanciful images? There again you might do it to relieve boredom at a flagging party, a little light hearted fun, never hurt anyone, go on don’t be a chicken. Who out there knows where this is leading and I bet a few of you have been there.
A large quantity of people reading this will have some experience of Ouija boards or some other similar method used to contact the other side. How many of you have tried it yourself and would never do it again due to whatever bad experience you have had? Believe it or not a lot more of you than you are currently thinking.
So where did they originate and why are they so popular today?
The use of Ouija board dates far back far into history and it is thought was first used in ancient Egypt or Greece depending which train of thinking you follow. Through history you find references to their use but I doubt we will ever know for sure where the idea originated. It was in the mid 19th century when the Ouija board became popular after being released as a board game by the Parker Company. As it was mass produced it became more accessible to the general public at large and more people started to dabble with them. As with all things of an occult nature the Victorians had a great part in the board’s popularity since then.
Ouija board abuse or similar related incidents make up over half our case load, once the board has opened a portal people don’t know how to, or forget to close it down properly, that is when the board is working right in the first place. You may get spirits from the lower planes of existence, pretending to be some one you wish to communicate with. You can get a spirit that you never intended to contact in the first place, who wants to return to the earth realm for whatever reason and not usually for a good one. A little fun? I don’t think so.
This is not to say that in experts hands Ouija boards are not useful tools, they are. Sadly though it takes many years to learn how to control the board, that takes a lot of practice and that’s when mistakes are made. Even seasoned board users will admit they sometimes encounter dark entities and spirits intent on misguiding people.
I personally would warn you against using any form of Ouija board, no matter what it is made of, to contact the spirit world. This seems to be the worst possible thing anyone can do and worries us greatly and do you really want to be the next person we have to come to visit, we would prefer it if we did not have to.
